Something Hopeful Photograph

This picture gives me hope for my new life.  The haku lei on the top shelf was from my wedding open house.  The guitar is my husband's and the cello is mine (a gift from him for Christmas).  The boxes in the corner represent the many boxes just outside of the frame covering the floors and couches of our new apartment.  The books include everything from textbooks, to stage plays, to classic literature, to scriptures, to philosophy, to high school yearbooks, to children's novels.  They were previously my books and his books, but now they are our books.  When I was setting them up he had an idea that we should have spiritual texts on the top shelf.  It symbolizes that even though our family will be well-read in both the things of God as well as the philosophies of men, we will put God and His ways above the things of the world. This photograph gives me hope of a family and a companionship filled with learning, music, books, and the direction of the Spirit.

  2. I love the subtle reflection of the guitar and cello in the picture. While I love reading, it's sometimes nice to take a break from it and engage with music instead, and that's a vibe that I get when I look at your photo. I also really loved how you explained why the books about God are on the top shelf. It's a nice reminder that we need to seek out the best books and prioritize their teachings over other books we may encounter.
